Prometeo - L22_SB

Prometeo represents our most radical proposal, an interpretation of the essence of play that shows to what extent the premise “less is more” is true. Before we go to the design board, we close our eyes for a moment and think about how little we need to play: a line on the street turns us into a tightrope walker; a signpost encourages us to grab it and spin around faster than the world. Poles and wires are simple elements that end up composing a range inspired by the rigging of sailboats. This degree of simplicity almost abstract makes Prometeo a range that fosters intergenerational contact. Children of all ages, as well as adults, are drawn to take a closer look at elements that deviate from the typical forms of urban parks. And after the initial surprise, a spontaneous cooperation arises to discover “how is this used”. Without realizing it, we play while we reflect on the very essence of playing. Elements such as the seesaw have been reviewed in contemporary design guides and have been part of exhibitions at museums such as MARCO de Vigo, Spain. It is difficult to decide if it is a game elevated to the category of art, or a piece of art on which you can play. In any case, it is a reminder that games are not an activity outside the culture, but one of the central elements that define it and allow it to move forward.
