Demod was born as a design and engineering challenge, whose aim was to show that one can create a playground system that is based on the modularity of Maccanos, the classical construction game.To achieve this goal, we found it necessary to simplify the forms and define a limited number of pieces that would allow an unlimited range of combinations. In addition, it was crucial that each resulting combination meet the most demanding European safety standards. For this reason, we developed an aluminum flange that could be fixed to the poles at any height and orientation without using screws. This way, we avoided the need to pre-drill holes in the posts. Demod serves as an example of how the highest degree of standardization can be the basis of the maximum level of personalization. A process that promotes a burst of imagination, with games that “grow” in different stages and generate unique spaces, each one marked by attention to detail, functionality and conceptual simplicity.
